Christian Formation
The term "Christian Formation" is often used interchangeably with "Christian Education." There is a subtle and important difference, however, and it stems from changes made to seminary education where lay people are trained for ordained ministry. Education implies simply imparting knowledge. Formation is a more holistic term, implying more than just head knowledge or teaching some facts. Rather it is about the whole person being shaped in many ways, educationally, spiritually, vocationally, liturgically, etcetera, into clergy. It's about transformation, not information. In the 21st century, a move has been made to try to apply the same terminology for parishes and their educational offerings for lay members. While we may still be imparting facts or information in our programs, our larger goal is to form people as Christian disciples of Jesus Christ. As such, the following opportunities are provided for Christian Formation:
For Children and Adults
